The unique pattern of the Luftwaffe Summer field trousers

 The Luftwaffe HBT tunic and HBT trousers have been on the wish list of many re-enactors and collector alike. Being very particular garments, they are very comfortable to wear during the hot summer days. The linen used in these Luftwaffe HBT uniforms is very light and has the cooling factor that was much appreciated by Luftwaffe Field division, Fallschirmjager and Flak Crew.

The Trousers for this Luftwaffe HBT uniform is the unique Summer trousers of the Luftwaffe was only available with this uniform. They come with all the details. This Luftwaffe HBT trourers includes two back pockets, internal belt system and metal suspender buttons. 

 

Historical Info about the Luftwaffe Herring-Bone Twill tunic and HBT trousers

Cotton was not not easily available within the Third Reich early of the war. The blockade by the allies affected importation of Cotton from South America and it was only until the Wehrmacht advanced into Russia that there could be good supply of Cotton.But as the borders of the Reich were closing in on Germany, cotton was at a premium and by 1944 it was only available from Surplus stocks in France and Italy. It was at this time that Summer HBT uniforms started were needed for the Summer periods. As the war progressed, the HBT mix was very linen dominant and later on, these were made entirely from linen.

 

Although the Luftwaffe had their HBT tunics in Blue-Gray, by 1943, an order was issued that only green fabric was to be produced, and effectively, reed green was produced for both Luftwaffe and Heer Summer Combat Uniforms.
