Early Luftwaffe tropical visor cap reproduction

A reproduction of the early Luftwaffe tropical enlisted visor cap, often known to collectors as the “Hermann Meyer” cap.

Made from tan tropical cotton cloth, this cap follows the soft field profile seen on original wartime examples. It includes a soft visor, side ventilation eyelets, rear neck protection, and internal reinforcement behind the eagle to help the front keep its correct shape without making the cap stiff.

This cap is finished with the Christian von Wohl premium stamp, marking it as one of our highest-specification reproduction pieces.

It also includes the red interior lining associated with this cap type, a detail often missing from standard tropical cap reproductions.

BEVO insignia and correct chinstrap

The insignia is BEVO woven, not modern machine embroidered. Both the Luftwaffe eagle and national cockade are carefully folded and hand-stitched to the cap, matching the appearance found on early Luftwaffe tropical headgear.

The leather chinstrap is made from fine leather with a debossed pebbled pattern on one side and natural raw leather on the reverse. It is folded correctly so that the visible outer side is fully black, while the reverse remains fully brown natural leather.

Historical Info about the Luftwaffe Tropical Visor Cap

This is a distinctive alternative to the standard Luftwaffe tropical side cap or Heer Afrikamütze. It is often observed in period photos of Luftwaffe tropical impressions, including North Africa, Sicily, Italy, Fallschirmjäger, and Hermann Göring Division displays. Officers modified these with officers' chin straps but with the standard-issue bevo insignia.
