Luftwaffe steel Buckle - Blue-gray

What's my Size?

The Luftwaffe blue-gray buckle is made from Steel and features the 2nd pattern eagle, which was introduced from 1940 onwards. This pattern features 2 piece construction (as in the photo showing the back), with the surface outside the horizontal oval is smooth, where as the inside is pebbled. The finish colour is a dark blue-gray that is like the original Luftwaffe buckles, and not a grayish light colour often observed on copies.

You can also source Luftwaffe buckles with leather tab (as observed on originals till around 1942). For this, we have commissioned this work to able craftsman, who have been using period techniques and linen thread for maximum authenticity. Luftwaffe blue buckles are also available without tabs.

Historical Information about the Luftwaffe blue Buckle

The Luftwaffe Buckle for EM/NCOs, at first issued in Aluminium, also suffered the fate of war-time shortages, and eventually steel was the primary component of the issued buckle. The second pattern eagle was introduced in late 1937 on all Luftwaffe buckles. The Blue-gray finish and olive (tropical) finish introduced in the mid-1940 were used primarily for service use, whereas the silver one was kept for parade and going out occasions (dress wear).
