Based on the Luftwaffe 4 pocket service dress, the summer service uniform followed the same pattern as the Tropical uniform, issued at the same time. The Blue-gray gabardine cotton matches the weight and weave of the original surviving examples. We have copied the pattern directly from an original in our collection.
Gray lining and blue-gray pebbled removable buttons finish off this jacket.
The jacket comes pre-stitched with a breast eagle on blue-wool and woolen shoulder straps in golden coloured piping for Flight
Officially in 1943, the Luftwaffe introduced summer-appropriate uniforms, anticipating that Germany is to enter the Mediterranean theatre of war. 2 colours of uniforms were introduced - the Khaki uniforms and the blue-grey summer uniforms.
From original photographs, one can observe these uniforms in use from 1941 to late 1944, thus covering the majority of the conflict
